About the Tri-County Heart Walk

The Tri-County Heart Walk is set for Saturday, May 21, at Lake Welch Beach at Harriman State Park. Participants are invited to walk any time they like between 8:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. Beverly Keefer, RN, MSN, BSN, CNML, director of cardiovascular services/cath lab/interventional radiology at Montefiore St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital, and Margaret Allers Deyo, chief nursing officer and vice president of patient care services at Montefiore St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital, are co-chairing the event. Noah and Emilie Paruolo, 5- and 2-year-old siblings born with heart defects, and Dr. Thomas Robb, trauma medical director at Montefiore St. Luke’s Cornwall, will share their stories of surviving heart disease.

Noah and Emilie Paruolo are 5 and 2. Both were born with congenital heart defects. Noah has had open-heart surgery; Emilie hasn’t needed it. The Paruolo children and their moms will share their story at the May 21 Tri-County Heart Walk at Lake Welch Beach in Harriman State Park. To register, visit TriCountyHeartWalk.org. Funds raised at the Tri-County Heart Walk help the American Heart Association continue to fund research and programs to fight heart disease and stroke.
